STEM In-sight: Building Skills, Curiosity, and Confidence

Every child deserves the chance to unlock their full potential in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)! What are we doing to ensure this happens for students with low vision? This dynamic conference explores how early foundational concepts set the stage for lifelong engagement in STEM for children with low vision. Participants will explore practical classroom strategies, hands-on lesson ideas, and real-world scenarios that boost students’ self-identity as STEM learners.

Objectives:
• Identify ways in which learning experiences can become accessible to spark curiosity & engagement.
• Develop practices to build student's confidence as STEM learners.
• List practical strategies (e.g., collaboration, mentoring) to increase STEM participation in the classroom.

Registration Fees:
• Professionals - $75.00 USD
• Family, Paraprofessionals, & Univ Students - $40.00 USD

• The itinerant Role in Supporting STEM Instruction in Elementary School: Building foundational skills, curiosity and self-confidence

Afternoon Sessions::

• Panel: Lessons Learned from Adults with Low Vision in STEM Careers

• Exhibit hall of resources, online programs and hands-on lessons for STEM learning beyond the classroom

• The Itinerant Role in Supporting STEM Instruction in Secondary School: Eek! How do I support my student taking Advanced Calculus?

• Panel: The Itinerant Perspective on Secondary Instructional Support and Collaboration in the STEM Curriculum
