Braille Boot Camp is four days of hands-on experiential learning focused on braille and tactile graphic production. Pat van Geem and Susan Mattson will lead participants through both small group and individual activities to create braille and tactile graphic documents.
This is a hands-on training on the production of braille and/or tactile graphic school-based worksheets. Learners will learn a process of production starting with a print hard copy worksheet analysis to embossing a braille copy. Learners will also learn the basis fundamental features of Microsoft Word, such as the drawing tools, adding templates, and many others.
Activities include:
• Analyzing print worksheet for element style and/or mathematical expressions
• Applying braille format and tactile graphic placement decision-making
• Document conversion into editable text
• Document and graphic preparation for braille translation
