Braille Boot Camp is a comprehensive four-day training program designed to enhance participants' proficiency in producing braille documents and tactile graphics for students with blindness and visual impairments. Led by Sue O'Brien and other TSBVI staff, this hands-on experience covers literary and mathematical subjects, emphasizing the development of practical skills.
Highlights of the training include:
• Setting up your computer and software for braille and tactile graphic production
• Understanding file formats and converting documents to editable text
• Developing a workflow that ensures the accuracy of translation and formats
• Translation of literary, foreign language, and math worksheets for different grade levels
• Working with tables
• The tactile graphic workflow and methods of production
• Drawing skills, element placement, and document formatting
• Development of templates for commonly used diagrams
• Use of available resources for guidance

The fall Boot Camp will be held August 6 - 9, 2024. Registration is now open. If you would like to stay on campus during the training, please inquire during the registration process.
Attendees must participate in all sessions; no partial registration or credit for leaving early or arriving late.
